Mabel's Lovers
A Keystone one-reeler from the studio's first weeks, when nobody yet knew what it would become.
What
An advertising poster for the Keystone comedy released in November 1912, held by the Library of Congress.
Why
Keystone opened in 1912 and within three years had industrialised American screen comedy - the chases, the pratfalls, the company that would shortly employ half the great silent comedians. Paper from its opening months is genuinely scarce.
Notice
How little the design assumes: no established house style yet, because there was not one to draw on.
“Slapstick, before it knew its own name.”
Format
The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.
Size
$29.00
