Metropolis — the Bilinsky Paris One-Sheet

Lang’s city, redrawn for Paris in Deco lacquer.

What

Boris Bilinsky’s Paris-release one-sheet for Metropolis — the same film as the German crown piece, reimagined entirely for the French screen.

Why

Bilinsky, a Russian émigré working in Paris, gave the film a wholly different face: where Schulz-Neudamm went sculptural and golden, Bilinsky went Deco, lacquered, and cool.

Notice

Compare it to the German one-sheet — same film, two civilizations of design, hung side by side.

“One city, two dreams of it.”
