Street Angel

A Naples of painted fog and moving camera, built entirely on the Fox backlot.

What

A 1928 linen-finish half-sheet (22 by 28 inches) for the Fox Film Corporation production directed by Frank Borzage.

Why

Borzage's late silents are the high point of American romantic melodrama, and Street Angel's fluid camerawork shows how thoroughly Fox had absorbed the German technique it had imported along with Murnau. Its lead performance was recognised at the first Academy Awards.

Notice

The linen finish — a fine woven texture applied to the stock — visible in the scan as a regular grain across the flat colour areas.

“A city that never existed, lit for love.”

Format

The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.

Sized to protect print quality — this scan supports sizes up to 24x36" cleanly.

Size

$29.00
