The Bandit of Point Loma
A lighthouse keeper takes a desperado, and the poster explains the whole plot before you buy a ticket.
What
A 1912 colour lithograph poster whose printed title runs, in full, as a one-sentence synopsis of the picture.
Why
Before stars and before recognisable genres, a poster had to teach a passer-by what the film was. The result is this - advertising that reads like a catalogue entry, a habit that vanished within a few years as audiences learned the shorthand.
Notice
The title text itself, which names the setting, the genre, the hero's occupation and the ending in a single breath.
“When a picture still had to explain itself.”
Format
The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.
Size
$29.00
