The Patriot

A mad emperor, his one loyal friend, and the murder that friendship required.

What

A 1928 half-sheet (22 by 28 inches), Style A, for the Paramount production directed by Ernst Lubitsch.

Why

Lubitsch's last silent feature and one of the most decorated films of its year, it is now largely lost - no complete print is known to survive. The advertising is among the more substantial physical traces of a film the Academy nominated in five categories.

Notice

The Style A designation printed on the sheet: studios issued competing designs for the same title and let exhibitors choose.

“A celebrated picture reduced to its own paper.”

Format

The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.

Sized to protect print quality — this scan supports sizes up to 24x36" cleanly.
