Three Friends
Three men clasp hands over a bar table, in a Biograph short from the year the company lost its future.
What
A 1913 colour lithograph one-sheet, 104 by 70 centimetres, for the Biograph Company release.
Why
Biograph was where American film grammar was worked out, and 1913 was its last strong year before Griffith departed and the company declined. Posters for one-reelers of this date are scarce; most were printed in small runs for a booking that lasted days.
Notice
The composition is a single staged tableau - the whole story compressed into one gesture, three hands meeting over a table.
“A handshake, and a studio at its high-water mark.”
Format
The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.
