Oblomok imperii (Fragment of an Empire), Evstafiev design

The same lost soldier, sold a second time by a second hand.

What

A chromolithographed one-sheet, 108 by 72 cm, issued by Sovkino in Moscow in an edition of 10,000 — a parallel design to Voronov's for the identical release.

Why

Two commissioned posters for one film is a useful reminder that Soviet film advertising in 1929 was a working industry with rival draughtsmen, not a single official style handed down.

Notice

Compare the sheet ratio against the Voronov version: this one is the taller standard format, and the composition is built to fill it differently.

“One picture, twice imagined, because selling a film was never a solved problem.”

Format

The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.

Size
