La Maison du mystère — premier épisode
Ten episodes of a house that will not give up what it knows.
What
A French affiche of 1923 for the first episode of Alexandre Volkoff's ten-part serial La Maison du mystère, drawn by Francisco Tamagno.
Why
The film was made by the Russian émigré company Albatros at Montreuil, staffed by artists who had fled the Revolution and who reshaped French cinema through the 1920s. Tamagno — the affichiste behind the Les Vampires sheet — links the wartime Gaumont serial directly to this émigré generation.
Notice
Serial posters were printed per episode, and this one carries its episode number: a fragment of a set designed to reappear on the same wall week after week.
“A Russian exile studio, a French wall, and a story rationed out one week at a time.”
Format
The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.
Sized to protect print quality — this scan supports sizes up to 11x17" cleanly.
