La Comedia Divina — Infierno

Milano Films sends Dante's damned abroad on a sheet printed by the house that engraved Verdi.

What

A Spanish-language export poster for L'Inferno (1911), the first Italian feature-length film, printed by the Officine Grafiche G. Ricordi in Milan.

Why

L'Inferno was cinema's first full-length adaptation of a literary monument, built from Doré's engravings and sold worldwide. This sheet is the machinery of that export — Italian art, Spanish text, a global audience assumed.

Notice

Ugolino's tower rendered with engraving discipline rather than poster shorthand; Ricordi's presses were a music-publishing house, and the line has that fineness.

“The oldest poem in Italian, hauled onto the newest surface in the world.”

Format

The full-resolution, color-managed file — restored honestly, yours to print and keep.

Sized to protect print quality — this scan supports sizes up to 18x24" cleanly.
